About Lucas
The Town
Established in June 2011 and located in the heart of the Ballarat West Growth Zone, Lucas is the largest master-planned community in the history of Ballarat and has quickly become a destination for young families. Just 7km out of the Ballarat township, the town was named after Eleanor Lucas and her staff who ran a popular textiles factory (the Lucas Clothing Factory). Eleanor and the ‘Lucas Girls’ from the factory were also pivotal in the creation of Ballarat’s famed Avenue of Honour and the Ballarat Arch of Victory. From supermarkets and shops to parks and playgrounds, Lucas is the ultimate destination with so much more room to grow.
