With a reputation for outstanding real estate service, at Barry Plant, our business is built on trust.
It’s been quite a journey from our humble beginnings as a handful of offices to the high-powered, efficient real estate network we’ve become. The Barry Plant story begins in 1979 when the first Barry Plant office opened in Templestowe. In the following 20 years, offices were established from the northeast to the southeast of Melbourne. In 1999, the 15 Barry Plant offices (under the leadership of Barry Plant) merged with 16 EJ Doherty Real Estate offices (under the leadership of Vic Care) and Barry Plant Doherty was formed.

EJ Doherty was a real estate network in the north and western suburbs of Melbourne with similar values to Barry Plant, focussed on always providing a professional and ethical real estate service. Both Barry Plant and Vic Care are still active directors of the company today.
Between July 1999 and December 2005, Barry Plant Doherty doubled in size to 60 offices, covering a significant slice of metropolitan Melbourne. In early 2006 the group expanded into regional Victoria, dropped ‘Doherty’, and became Barry Plant Real Estate once more.
We now have a large and collaborative network of offices, each dedicated to achieving the best result for your property.
