Location
On the north side of The Bellarine Peninsula, when you travel to Portarlington from Geelong you’ll find yourself surrounded by wineries and olive groves and from the hills behind Portarlingon there’s spectacular panoramic views across Port Phillip Bay. The coastal road from Portarlington to St Leonards is glorious, hugging the water closely. With direct ferry links to the city of Melbourne, Portarlington also serves as a gateway to the historic towns and surf beaches of the Bellarine Peninsula.

The town's main retail is on Newcombe Street and is dominated by the landmark Grand Hotel, built in 1886. Up the hill, the street has a strip of cafes, bakeries and takeaway, as well as a lolly shop.

Offering sheltered swimming beaches and an attractive foreshore featuring a pier, BBQ and picnic areas, and a large camping area.
Parks and recreation reserves occupy the sloping foreshore between the shops on Newcombe Street and the beach, providing good views across the bay and towards the You Yangs mountain range north of Geelong.
