About North Shore
North Shore Location
North Shore suburb overlooks Corio Bay and is bounded by the Melbourne to Warrnambool railway line to the west, St Georges Road to the north, Corio Bay to the east, and Cowies Creek to the south.
North Shore has a small residential area and a few neighbourhood shops. There is a Presbyterian church and a Missions to Seamen building.
Houses along the Esplanade enjoy some of the best views of Corio Bay and the city.
History of North Shore
In 1892 the North Shore area was subdivided as a residential area and bayside retreat. An esplanade and linear park were laid out and planted with trees, the remaining fragment now being Moorpanyal Park. A small jetty was constructed and 10 years later, North Shore was a small holiday resort
Shopping & Eating Out in North Shore
Although there’s only a handful of cafes, shops and a post office in North Shore, there’s easy access to more shopping and dining options in nearby suburbs.
North Shore Sporting & Recreation
Beginning at Moorpanyal park, which has a playground and barbecue area, a bay walk traverses the shore between the industry and Corio Bay. Moorpanyal Beach nature reserve has a mesmerising view and there’s a Dog Park nearby. There’s also The Esplanade Leisure and Recreation Centre
