About Lara
The main street has everything you need, a decent coffee from the local coffee shop, and fresh produce at the local deli, fruit shop and butcher. Essentials like a pharmacy, bakery, Woolworths, Coles, beauty salons and various takeaway restaurants are available also.
Lara has three primary schools; St. Anthony's Primary School, Lara Lake Primary School and Lara Primary School. There is also Lara Secondary College and Avalon college, a school for International Students preparing them for traditional schools.
There is a train station in Lara with regular V/Line services on the Geelong line to Melbourne. And nearby is Avalon airport which has recently gone international.
If you’re looking for amusement, Lara Golf Club, Serendip Sanctuary Reserve, Lara Lake Reserve, Lara Swimming Pool or one of the many sporting clubs are a great place to start.
In the far outskirts of Lara are industry parks and two prisons – the maximum security HM Prison Barwon, and the medium security Marngoneet Correctional Centre.
