About Balaclava

Balaclava is an inner city suburb of Melbourne about 7 km south from the CBD.

Close to the city and the beach with a great vibe, there is a lot to like about this area.

All your shopping requirements can be met in Carlisle Street, St Kilda East with supermarkets, fruit shops, butchers, bakeries, banks, chemists, clothing and shoe shops, several discount stores, restaurants, cafes and bars. Alma Park provides a beautifully treed walking track, outstanding play areas and a treehouse for children.

The suburb is served by several forms of public transport. The main railway station, Balaclava, is on the Sandringham railway line. Major tram routes operate on Chapel Street, Balaclava Road, Carlisle Street, Dandenong Road and St Kilda Road. Bus routes 216 and 219 operate along Hotham Street.
