Mount Martha, a residential and beach suburb on the Mornington Peninsula facing Port Phillip Bay, is 6 km south of Mornington and 52 km south of Melbourne.

Mount Martha is just over one and a half hours' drive from Melbourne Central. A coastal road (The Esplanade) links Mount Martha with Mornington in the north and Safety Beach in the south.

Shopping & Eating Out in Mount Martha

Mount Martha offers only a small commercial centre in Lochiel Avenue. There’s a Ritchies IGA, deli, chemist, gift and clothing stores, as well as a variety of cafes, restaurants and takeaway options.

Mount Martha Sporting & Recreation

Much of the coast around Mount Martha consists of rocky cliffs, offering a variety of walking tracks and scenic viewing spots. There are also swimming beaches lined with rows of colourful bathing boxes.

Mount Martha Beach North and South are well maintained. At the North end, you’ll find Balcombe Creek, which has a boardwalk and is a popular walking spot. There’s ample parking, and you’ll often find food trucks for a bite to eat. It’s a great place to enjoy a swim by day and sunset by night. Hawker Beach, further north, has a dog friendly off-leash area and is next to Mornington-Mount Martha Foreshore Reserve. Birdrock Beach is a hidden gem at the north end of Mount Eliza; it has a steep staircase and is a great place for snorkelling.

Further south you’ll find The Pillars, a popular yet hard-to-access place off the cliffs. Whether you’re enjoying the view, throwing in a line or jumping in - there are many ways to enjoy the bay from Mount Martha.

Mount Martha Park consists of 53 hectares of native bushland and walking trails high on the hill at Mount Martha, with beautiful views over the bay and peninsula. The Briars Park Park Reserve has two walking tracks and is a great place to get closer to nature. It’s a great place for a picnic, or you could enjoy a meal at the cafe and restaurant. Fairbairn Bushland Reserve provides a nice place for a quick stroll.

Mount Martha also has a Public Golf Course near the Nepean Highway and a fully fenced dog park.
