About Niddrie
It wasn’t until 1994 that the suburb of Niddrie was officially recognised, although the origins of the name stretch back to the 1870’s when an early settler named his home ‘Niddrie’ after his birthplace in Scotland, and the local Post Office was known as Niddrie from 1956.
The main shopping precinct on Keilor Road attracts people from many surrounding suburbs, particularly those who come for the thriving café and restaurant scene. The area is also well serviced by a choice of public transport options, quality schools and excellent park lands, including the popular Steele Creek Trail.
