About Maidstone
Located within the City of Maribyrnong, at the 2021 census, Maidstone recorded a population of 9,389.
Maidstone was established in 1858 and was given its name after the town of Maidstone in Kent, England. Between the 1920s to 1940s, Maidstone was mostly made up of period weatherboard homes, brick Art Deco and Californian Bungalows. In the late 1940s returned servicemen from World War II built concrete mid century modern homes and from the early 1990s, many old factory sites in Maidstone were turned into new housing estates with many townhouses.
Maidstone has great access to public transport, a close proximity to the CBD and a variety of parks and recreational spaces, including walking tracks and parklands by the Maribyrnong River. Just north of Maidstone is Highpoint Shopping Centre and to the east is Footscray Hospital. There are a variety of schools, childcare centres and sports venues in Maidstone, making it a great place to raise a family.
