About Wantirna

Wantirna is a suburb of Melbourne, 24 km east of the CBD, located within the City of Knox.

Wantirna is close enough to the city to be convenient and get there in a timely manner, yet far enough to not be congested with traffic. The local shopping centre in Wantirna, Westfield Knox was occasionally used for the filming of TV show ‘Neighbours’.

Selling points: Wantirna’s proximity to all amenities and services provides an exceptional lifestyle for a large diverse group of families. With four local Primary Schools, Wantirna Secondary College, an abundance of parklands and easy access to Studfield Shops, Wantirna Mall and Knox City life is easy going in this leafy suburb.

Most sought-after properties: Three to five bedroom family homes on approx. 700sqm of land are the most sought after in quiet cul-de-sacs of the Regency Park Estate situated in the heart of Wantirna.

Most common properties: 1970 to 1980 brick veneer 3 to 4 bedroom homes are the most sought after properties in Wantirna. As a family’s needs grow many of the local residents will upsize and seek out the larger properties measuring approx. 40 squares of living offering 4 bedrooms plus a study, three living areas as they have well and truly cemented themselves in the local community by then and look to live out their lives in the Wantirna area.

Top amenities: Westfield Knox Shopping Centre provides many attractions including restaurants, cinemas & over 200 designer shops. Recent changes: Westfield Knox Shopping Centre has had some significant upgrades over the past five years. The City of Knox has always held a vision to improve local infrastructure; most recently the Knox Private Hospital had a major overhaul, Wantirna College had new facilities built, local parklands have been well maintained.

Best streets: Amersham Drive, Wantirna is one of the best regarded streets with quiet leafy courts branching off offering large prestigious property that your friends and family will envy. The most sought after area in Wantirna is known as Regency Park due to its proximity to local Primary Schools, shops and its family neighbourhood feel.

Public transport: There are a number of buses along Burwood Highway, Stud and Boronia Road, not to mention the central bus hub at Westfield Knox which has direct links to Mitcham, Glen Waverley train stations.

Travel: The main roads that service the Wantirna area are Burwood & Mountain Highway, Stud and Boronia Road. In June 2007 travel time was definitely cut short with the opening of Eastlink if you were heading to the beach of CBD.

History: The name Wantirna is derived from the native meaning of "a babbling brook" in the area. Neighbouring suburbs include Bayswater, Heathmont, Vermont and Wantirna South.
