In case you missed it, there was an interesting article in the Herald-Sun this Saturday, (June 1st), that raised some interesting questions about where property prices are headed in the future.

Now, as many regular readers would be aware, I usually view any kind of forecasting of the property market with a fair bit of scepticism. When I read that the figures they were using were provided by PropTrack based on suburb-by-suburb price growth over the past five years, I was even more cautious. As they say in all those advertisements for various superannuation funds, “Past performance is no guarantee of future performance”.

Having said that, however, I thought I would pass on some of the figures that come from this analysis, as I thought local property owners might interested to see what property values in their specific area might look like if the next five years brings similar results to the past five.

Here’s a rundown of some of the local suburbs we’ve sold property in recently:

Suburb 2029 Prediction

Craigieburn Up 17%

Dallas Up 13%

Fawkner Up 17%

Gladstone Park Up 15%

Glenroy Up 13%

Gowanbrae Up 12%

Greenvale Up 15%

Hadfield Up 18%

Mickleham Up 34%

Pascoe Vale South Up 18%

Roxburgh Park Up 16%

Sunbury Up 20%

Tullamarine Up 19%

Westmeadows Up 12%

Now, as I mentioned earlier, I don’t believe that these figures are an accurate forecast for the City of Hume and surrounding areas, so I wouldn’t recommend that you rely on them when making plans for the future.

The simple fact is that if you are making plans for the future, and would like an up-to-date indication of exactly what your current property could achieve in the current market conditions, the easiest way is to give us a call at Barry Plant Gladstone Park this week on 9330 1088.

We’d be more than happy to provide you with an update that relates to your specific area and property.
