Barry Plant Werribee/Tarneit raise funds for Beyond Blue for third-year running
A Barry Plant Werribee/Tarneit charity event has once again raised much-needed funds to support people facing mental health challenges.
Held on 17 October at the picturesque Shadowfax Winery in Werribee South, the event brought together over 100 attendees and successfully raised $24,930 for Beyond Blue, a leading Australian organisation dedicated to improving mental health and preventing suicide.
This marks the third consecutive year that Barry Plant Werribee/Tarneit has organised its annual charity event for Beyond Blue, bringing the total funds raised to an impressive $55,500.
Agency Director Reece Beckley expressed his gratitude to the community for their ongoing support and emphasised the importance of this cause.
"Last year, we raised over $18,500, and this year we aimed to make an even bigger impact," Mr Beckley said.
"Our support can make a real difference in the lives of those struggling with mental health issues. We chose to back Beyond Blue because we've witnessed the profound effects of mental health challenges on local residents and small business owners, particularly in the aftermath of COVID-19 and other tough times."
Beyond Blue's vision, that "all people achieve their best possible mental health," resonates strongly with the values of Barry Plant.
The organisation works tirelessly with communities to enhance mental well-being, offering vital support to help individuals feel better sooner, recover fully, and maintain their health over time.
The event featured compelling presentations, including a detailed session by Beyond Blue call centre representatives, who shared insights into the vital services they provide. Former police officer Paul Welch also gave a deeply personal talk, drawing on his own experiences to highlight the importance of accessible mental health support.
"The event provided a valuable opportunity for mutual support among local business owners, clients, and our team," Mr Beckley noted.
"It was not just about raising funds; it was about coming together as a community to learn and share. We gained a deeper understanding of the operations behind Beyond Blue’s call centre, the extensive training required, and the costs involved in offering counselling and assistance to those in need."
Beyond Blue's call centre is a cornerstone of its services, offering 24/7 support to individuals in distress.
The funds raised at the event will help ensure that more people can access these life-changing services, enabling Beyond Blue to continue its essential work in mental health prevention and support.
Mr Beckley emphasised the alignment between the values of Barry Plant and Beyond Blue, underscoring the agency’s commitment to making a positive impact.
"Mental health is a critical issue that affects everyone in some way," he said.
"By supporting Beyond Blue, we’re helping to break down the stigma around mental health and provide much-needed resources to our community."
The success of this year’s event has set a strong precedent for future initiatives, with Barry Plant Werribee/Tarneit already planning next year’s fundraiser.
"We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of our clients, partners, and the broader community," Mr Beckley added.
"Together, we’re making a real difference, and we look forward to continuing this important work in the years ahead."
The success of this year's charity event underscores the strong community spirit and commitment of Barry Plant Werribee/Tarneit to supporting mental health initiatives.
By raising nearly $25,000 for Beyond Blue, the agency has not only contributed vital funds but also helped raise awareness around the importance of mental well-being.
As the team looks ahead to future events, their dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by mental health challenges remains unwavering. Together with the support of local residents, clients, and business partners, Barry Plant Werribee/Tarneit is determined to continue championing this crucial cause and building a healthier, more resilient community.
