The Barry Plant Group has struck silver at the 2024 Melbourne Design Awards, earning top honors in the Graphic Design - Identity and Branding - Corporate category for its daring and dynamic brand refresh.

This award highlights Barry Plant's success in re-energising its brand identity, underscoring the company's dedication to innovation, and client-focused services.

This initiative went beyond mere cosmetic changes, encompassing a complete revitalisation of the Barry Plant identity. Spearheaded by the in-house marketing team, the refresh included updating hundreds of templates and marketing assets within a remarkably short timeframe of just three months.

"The brand refresh project was a collaborative team effort. The initial logo, freshed colours and concepts were the brainchild of the fantastic team at Watts Design, who were able to skillfully meet our brief and capture our vision and brand values. From there, our talented internal Marketing team went to work to implement the refreshed branding across every type of marketing collateral, from templated property marketing, to campaign artwork, to bespoke office assets,” she said.

However the brand refresh didn’t come without its challenges. “We always knew that undertaking a major refresh was going to put a lot of pressure on our team and network. The refresh needed to be executed efficiently and within a short three month period, ensuring no office or team member was left behind,” Ms Kamienowska explained.

“The Barry Plant network were incredibly supportive of the new branding so our goal was to ensure that as they embraced the fresh designs, they were serviced in all of their marketing needs. Our solution for this was establishing an in-house Marketing Design Studio and Support Desk, providing dedicated assistance for artwork and design requests. The in-house team efficiently managed over 2,000 bespoke office requests, ensuring timely and effective support during the transition and beyond.”

Barry Plant CEO Lisa Pennell said the award is also a testament to the brand's commitment to innovation.

“The brand refresh was modern, bold and courageous, a complete departure from the sea of navy that is the traditional landscape of the Melbourne property market.”

The brand refresh was marked by robust engagement with stakeholders, including board members and franchise directors, who unanimously supported the new design during a Franchise Council meeting.
