If you are planning on selling sometime soon, and you’re looking at ways to get your home “market ready”, don’t fall for the trap of ‘doing what everyone else does’.

Let’s face it, you’re not going to make an impact on buyers if you make sure your property looks just like everyone else’s!

When you sell, you want your property to be the first that potential buyers think of after a long day of house-hunting, and one way to do this is to create a “a highlight” that people will remember. In our experience, one method of achieving this kind of impact is with a feature wall or two using a contrasting paint colour.

Another similar method is to use a feature wallpaper service to create a mural, often personalising it with the use of a personal photo of a favourite scene. As you can see in the photo, this approach can produce a memorable result in bedrooms, although they can be used equally effectively in some living zones.

Even the use of smaller colour highlights in unexpected places can be effective. Something as simple as a brightly coloured door, light fitting or even toilet cistern can make an impact. Don’t overlook the power of floor-to-ceiling mirrors to add space and light to an otherwise unappealing room either.

Of course, they key to making this decision is to understand who your buyers are likely to be, and what else they are seeing in the current market.

So don’t hesitate to call on our experienced Sales Consultants for informed and up-to-date advice before you go spending the household budget at Bunnings when you don’t have to!
