Revel in resort-style living at this modern family oasis with a touch of Bali in the backyard.

EVERY day will feel like a holiday at this resort-style home with a touch of Bali in the backyard – something owner Paul had in mind when he built the double-storey residence six years ago.

An elevated corner-block position combined with an eye-catching facade featuring dark, slimline Daniel Robertson bricks and a veranda wrapped in thick timber posts, give the home prominence from the very start.

Mario Munafo, a director at Barry Plant Mt Waverley, describes 178 Huntingdale Rd, Mount Waverley, as an iconic house in the area with great street presence.

“When you walk into the property, you’re excited by what you see. The quality and craftsmanship are evident and of a very high level,” Mr Munafo says.

Finishes have been carefully chosen for their timeless and easy-to-live-with appeal.

Dark timber floors paired with crisp-white walls create a relaxed and inviting ambience, while Spanish tiles that look like floorboards introduce a touch of warmth and sophisticated style in the bathrooms.

The home has something for everyone, including a smart mix of spaces to spend time together or relax on your own.

“It has a really flexible floorplan that is well-designed around family enjoyment,” Mr Munafo says.

Living areas are zoned downstairs, starting with a super-sized theatre and media room at the front, which is soundproofed and has a large purpose-built screen, a 3D projector and surround-sound, as well as a built-in desk and plenty of room for comfortable seating.

The kitchen forms the heart of the home, with the family room and the meals area revolve around it.

“I like that people are able to easily interact in this area,” Paul says.

A cosy fireplace in the family room, a north-facing aspect that fills each space with beautiful natural light and an entertainer-friendly kitchen with stone benches, stainless-steel Miele appliances and a butler’s pantry are just some of the features that make the open-plan zone so inviting.

Corner bi-fold doors that open to the large covered alfresco zone are another big plus for entertainers, allowing an uninterrupted flow between indoors and out.

This is also where the home’s resort feel is best celebrated – there’s a solar-heated swimming pool with a waterfall feature, a Bali hut and a low-maintenance garden with plants that just love looking after themselves.

“It’s your own slice of paradise, especially when the pool is lit up at night,” Mr Munafo says.

Four bedrooms are zoned upstairs, along with a family bathroom. One of the secondary bedrooms has an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe, while the main bedroom takes up the front half of the first floor.

Easily classed as the ultimate parents’ retreat, it has a palatial walk-in wardrobe, an ensuite with freestanding bath and double shower, as well as a private balcony.

The fabulously functional floorplan incorporates a ground-floor study or guest bedroom with adjacent bathroom, a large laundry and a central decked courtyard, while wide corridors, high ceilings, square-edged cornices and lots of windows accentuate the light and airy feel throughout.

Ducted heating, refrigerated cooling and split-system airconditioning, a handy laundry chute and ducted vacuum, white plantation shutters, an integrated sound system with indoor and outdoor speakers, four security cameras and a zoned alarm are among other highlights.

“It really is an amazing home people can grow into,” Paul says.
