Do I need to disclose the sale price when I sell my house?
Short answer? No, you don’t have to. However, my recommendation is that if you have a signed contract for the sale of your house and you don’t want the sales price publicly disclosed at that time, you should instruct the agent to mark it as undisclosed on the office management system when the property goes unconditional. This office management system automatically feeds some information (including sold price) through to industry websites where your property has been marketed - such as realestate.com.au and Domain.
Once your property is sold if the price has, at any stage, been disclosed and real estate websites have access to that information, then it is very, very difficult to get that data removed from the internet.
If a property is sold at a public auction, then the price achieved is considered public information. All prices become public on settlement of the property and can be accessed through a land title search for a fee.
